What is the Writing Center?
The writing center is a safe space for students who need individualized tutoring or help with their writing assignments. We provide one-on-one assistance to students, no matter their skill level or where they are at in their writing process. We do not edit papers, and we do not tell students what to write. Instead, we provide guidance, encourage critical thinking, give insightful feedback, and share helpful resources with students. We also help with document formatting, academic research, and citation styles.
Office Hours and Appointments
The Simmons College of Kentucky Writing Center is housed in the computer lab, located within the SCKY Library, located at 1000 South 4th Street, Louisville, KY 40203. Walk-ins are welcome every Monday, Wednesday and Friday for students who need writing assistance (see hours below). On other days and at other times, including evenings, students must make an appointment. Please make your appointment at least 24 hours in advance. To make an appointment, students can either email us at writingcenter@simmonscollegeky.edu or directly email the coach of their choosing. There is no guarantee that someone will be available to assist students without making an appointment. Please note, appointments after 5:00 PM are virtual appointments only.

Group Workshops and Events
The Writing Center offers workshops on writing and citation during the academic year. The events for Spring 2025 will take place in the Writing Center, located within the Library. As well as a physical space, we will be hosting all workshops and events online via Zoom. Check your Canvas announcements and Simmons email for upcoming workshops, events, and details on how to register.
